The interest in American football in Serbia grew rapidly after the first television broadcasts of season in 2001. Before the season, the Vukovi were not considered favorites to win the championship. Big problems with injuries have further weakened the team during the season. However, the Vukovi were able to record only one loss in the CEFL league regular season from Ljubljana Silverhawks and one loss in the SAAF Serbian Superleague regular season from the biggest rival.
